Jaipur - Tonk Road within the urban area of Jaipur City is an important arterial road. This commences from Yadgaar intersection near Ajmeri Gate on Mirza Ismail Road and connects Sanganer, which is a twin township of Jaipur City. It further connects newly developed residential colonies like Pratap Nagar. The road carries a high volume of passenger cars and two wheelers along with other categories of slow moving traffic. The commercial vehicular traffic however plies only beyond Gopalpura crossing. It is now proposed to develop this road with widening, construction of footpath etc. complete with street furniture and undertake beautification works to make the road more user-friendly. The development works proposed are as follows:

1. To have- a uniform and maximum possible carriageway width.
2. To improve all the intersections on scientific basis.
3. To organize a parking system and identify and construct parking reservoirs
   wherever feasible and considered necessary,
4. To construct footpath wherever missing,
5. To check uncontrolled access of pedestrians on to the carriageway in
   congested areas, eg. in front of SMS Hospital, Lal Kothi, Nehru Place etc.
6. To improve drainage wherever water stagnates,
7. To provide road signages on gantry or otherwise,
8. To provide shelter for passengers at bus bays including benches,
9. To identify locations for dust bins and provide the same at such proposed
   locations.
10. Improve arboriculture.
11. Undertake landscaping wherever considered necessary,
12. Provide murals at suitable locations,
13. Providing police and telephone booths.
14. Any other beautification, improvement or street furniture work required,
15. To upkeep and maintain the full stretch of road and its approaches,
16. To provide Traffic lights and street lights.
